EJS Design — “Let It Rip” Creative Portrait System
EJS Design needed a team portrait solution that moved beyond standard corporate headshots.
We worked together to develop a concept-driven approach that reflected personality, creativity, and brand identity, while still being structured enough to scale across the entire team.
The Challenge
Avoid generic, uniform headshots
Create something visually distinct and brand-aligned
Maintain consistency across 13 individuals
Originally planned as a one-day shoot, later expanded across a full week
Required directing non-professional talent
Needed to support both personality and structure
The Approach
We developed a repeatable portrait system built around a rip-through concept, bold color, and role-driven props.
Collaborated with the client across multiple planning sessions to refine the concept
Designed and tested the set in advance
Built a quick-change system to allow for flexible background color options
Conducted color tests for client approval
The day before production, the direction shifted to a red and white color scheme aligned with the EJS brand. The system allowed us to adapt immediately without rebuilding the set.
PRODUCTION / EXECUTION
Built two matching sets in the studio using different lighting equipment, engineered to produce identical results
Shifted from a single-day shoot to a multi-day schedule across a week
Coordinated and scheduled 13 team members
Directed each subject individually, helping them select props connected to their role
Captured two variations per subject:
with props
without props (for interactive rollover use)
Consistency was maintained across multiple days while allowing each portrait to retain individual personality.
DELIVERABLES
Full set of team portraits (13 individuals)
Dual-image portrait system for interactive website use (hover/rollover)
Consistent visual identity across all portraits
Assets for website and internal branding, with flexibility for social use
Results
A distinct, cohesive portrait system that reflects the personality and culture of the team
Portraits that balance consistency with individuality
A flexible production approach that adapted to changing creative direction without slowing down
