Ohio Hockey — Rapid Response Apparel Launch
Ohio Hockey needed launch-ready imagery for a new t-shirt design on an extremely compressed timeline. The images were needed for an upcoming expo, website sales, printed materials, and social media, leaving little room for planning or production prep.
With no formal shot list, no confirmed location until the night before, and harsh outdoor conditions on the day of the shoot, the project required a fast, adaptable approach focused on delivering usable content quickly.
The Challenge
This project came together with almost no lead time.
Client reached out over the weekend with an urgent need for launch imagery
Assets were needed immediately for:
website
social
printed expo materials
Location scouting options were limited and local hockey venues were unavailable on short notice
Final location was chosen the night before
No formal shot list or production paperwork existed
Talent was selected informally and was not professional models
The shoot took place in bright midday sun, which is one of the least forgiving conditions for photography
The goal was to create a complete, usable image set without the benefit of a typical production timeline.
The Approach
Instead of waiting for ideal conditions, the shoot was built around speed, mobility, and control.
Packed a lightweight battery-powered Elinchrom strobe setup for on-location flexibility
Arrived early to scout the park and identify backgrounds that could support the brand visually
Built the shot structure in real time based on the location, light, and what the client needed most
Focused coverage on the essentials:
logo close-ups
male and female individual portraits
paired images
multiple park locations for variety
Shot to camera instead of tethering in order to stay mobile and keep production moving
This was less about building a polished production environment and more about making smart decisions quickly.
PRODUCTION
The shoot was executed entirely on location with minimal prep and no formal production support.
Directed talent on-site
Managed posing and simple movement in real time
Balanced natural sunlight with portable strobe to maintain consistency
Created enough variation for the client to use the images across multiple channels without needing a second shoot
Even without a formal pre-pro process, the shoot stayed focused on producing a complete launch-ready set rather than a handful of nice images.
DELIVERABLES
The final gallery was built to support immediate launch needs across multiple channels.
60 final images delivered
Individual male portraits
Individual female portraits
Paired portraits
Logo and shirt detail images
Horizontal and vertical options for different placements
Assets for:
website
social media
printed expo materials
Results
The client received a complete set of usable launch assets despite a timeline and production situation that offered almost no margin for delay.
This project proves our ability to:
move quickly without losing control
build structure on-site when none exists
work in uncontrolled environments
produce clean, usable content under deadline pressure
The value of this shoot was not perfection.
It was speed, adaptability, and delivery.
